Juniors Coaching

The Junior Section has developed a coaching programme that allows juniors to improve their skills and ability as they gain experience in the game. Clubgolf- the National Junior Golf Framework – has supported the more advanced juniors through the “Roving Pro” programme, for clubs that do not have their own Professional. At Minto we have been fortunate to be able to use Frank Scott, local professional who has had great success with talented youngsters from the area.

Frank has given a series of lessons to juniors who have, or are about to get, their handicap, at the start of the season. In addition he has given “on course” lessons to the older juniors to help with their course management and strategy.

The younger Juniors receive coaching from our dedicated PGA Level 1 coaches.

At the end of the season we had a visit from Clubgolf's Coach Developer, Ryan Scott, to assess our performance.

Ryan enjoyed his visit to Minto and reported back to us, highlighting:

  • The Coaching was very well structured and organised.
  • Excellent interaction with the coaches and children throughout the session.
  • Good well balanced session.
  • Positive to see children being allowed to practice on the course.
  • Good level of technical knowledge and experience from the coaches.

Ryan has agreed to return to Minto in 2016 to personally take a coaching session, combining games for learning ideas and how these can be implemented.

With 30 children involved over the year, the Section requires additional coaches. It is hoped to have this resource in place for the start of the 2016 season
