Gents Fox & Hounds No 9 - Results!

The final Fox & Hounds Medal of 2017 was played today, Saturday 9th September.  The competition went under a variety of names - Fox & Hounds 10, September Medal, even Captain's Prize Day got a look in, but the most important trophy of the day was the Ally Whillans Memorial Day.  Today's winner was Gordon Ferguson on net 64, who also added the Points Trophy to his performance record for 2017.  Richard Allott took second place on net 66 and consolidated his qualification for next week's 36 Hole final.  In third place, Davy Wear was another who guaranteed his participation next week.  Davy also returned a net 66. but Richard took second place on countback.

Both Gordon and Davy will be playing the Finals off a lower handicap than they played in today's medal.  Richard's playing andicap remains unchanged although his exact handicap falls.

The day got of to an a dreadful start weatherwise as Peter Gibb, Ron Gray and Nick Garbutt teed o0ff in monsoon conditions at ten to eight.  However, by the time the next groups set of just before nine, the sun was out and the day stayed fair apart fronm a short sharp saer about half past one.

Stewart Paisley kindly provided food and refreshments after the tenth and additional liquid refreshment on the fifteenth tee as part of Captain's day.  Thanks to Stewart for organising that.

It was a good day on the golf course for Stewart himself as he scored his first points of the season in the Points Trophy meaning that all 42 places in next week's Finals have been won through golfing prowess.

Richard Allott returned the lowest gross of the day on 71  Outside the top three, the best gross was the 75 by Scott Nichol.

Results and a few handicap adjustments have been uploaded to the How Did I Do website for the benefit of Members registered on that site.

Sunday's result added two more names - Richard Allott & Davy Wear to the list of guaranteed qualifiers for the Fox & Hounds Finals Day.  The first three golfers in any Fox & Hounds medal automatically qualify for Finals Day.  Gordon Ferguson had qualified already via a number of previous medals    The list ofguaranteed  Fox Finals Day Qualifiers can be seen by clicking here.

Thank you to everyone who has played in Fox & Hounds series this year.  Despite a fall in membership, participation in these Medals has held up very well and even increased on some days.

Please note that everyone who has scored even just  one point in the Points Trophy this and is able to play in the Finals next week is ensured a place on the Start List next week.  This means that I won't be returning to anyone who was wondering if they had made it onto the tee next week.
